38 weeks

well its almost here! could be today, or if im late could be another month! its too crazy for me to think about that im so close! garret and i have a list of things to do before baby comes. there are only a few things on there, but we need to book it if we are gonna get them done! and my mom will be here thursday, so i cant wait for her arrival! i remember when i found out i was pregnant, i was trying to think of what it would be like right before the baby came! spring was mostly on my mind! and its right around the corner! our sprinklers are on, and our grass is slowly but surely starting to turn green! i have never been more excited for spring! things are normal! baby gets the hiccups a lot! thats fun! and cause there is not so much room anymore for he or she to move around, the kicks are stronger and my belly moves around all they time! i will miss that, but im so much more eager to have the lil one in my arms instead! my braxton hicks are getting stronger and lasting longer! so thats exciting! but they are still just braxton hicks! im looking forward to the real contractions! as funny as that sounds! but its true! and im really excited for all the early labor projects i have planned! we will see how many of them i get to do! things i have in mind; making a collage, washing the baby's laundry, cleaning and organizing things around the house, playing cards and board games, maybe doing a belly cast or doing yard/garden work.....so much that sounds fun to keep my mind off the contractions! the following pics i posted are obviously of before being pregnant, and then 40 weeks! i think its so awesome and such a miracle how God created our bodies! too cool... well hope everyone is doing good! till next week!

How your baby is growing: 38 weeks
Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

37 weeks! FULL TERM

wow. i cant believe it is so close! it could happen any day now, or still be weeks away! i try not to think too much about it being now. but its kinda hard not too! i dont feel that different, but just knowing im full term sounds so weird and makes me wonder, what if, every day! im not in any hurry by any means tough! my mom wont be here till the 1st! but thats right around the corner! they baby keeps growing and getting bigger inside me, and i dont seem to be growing at all now! im happy, but its weird! harder kicks to the ribs, and stronger punches to my bladder and cervix! that is never any fun, but it is sweet knowing that the baby is strong and active! here are a couple pics of garret and i in our confident birthing classes! we are doing wall squats to try to breath and cope thought the pain, and then garret is massaging me afterwards! he is such a sweet husband! i feel so blesses to have him! soon enough i will be blogging about life as a mother! we are so excited!

Your baby is now considered "full term," even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. (Some babies need a bit more time, though. So if you're planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there's a medical reason to intervene earlier.) Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

36 weeks

wow! only a month left! that seems too weird to me! everyone says the last little bit takes forever! but overall it has gone by so fast to me! but in a good way! we have had just the right amount of time to get our nursery as much ready as we can prior to our baby shower! we put up some frames and shelves on the wall, and got everything put exactly where we think it will be for now! we put the bassinet in our bedroom, and the swing downstairs in the living room! i was reading that its best to prepare your animals before the baby comes with all the new toys, furniture, and rules that would be set! we have been pushovers when it comes to our dogs! we have let them on the bed and couches! not the most convenient when we have company over that are not dog lovers, or have pet allergies! but non the less, this worked for us! considering we dont have a ton of friends, haha! but now is the time if any, that we can buckle down on them! its hard on me because i love to cuddle with my pets! they are so affectionate and loving and this month will be hard having to tell them NO all the time! but i understand they wont be number one once i lay eyes on my own flesh and blood baby doll! so i got the dogs a bed from costo that we love! only $19! they love it so far! they dont like that they cant be with us on the bed or couches, but they are learning really fast, and we are trying our best to show them just as much love coming down to their floor level! hopefully by the time baby comes they will have it down so we wont have to spend as much time teaching, because i know we will have our hands full! i dont know if i can brake my cat of these things though! he is pretty stubborn, but he doesnt really ever get on the couch cushions, and only lays on the bed sometimes, but doesnt ever really like to be by anyone! so we will see how he does with the baby! he loves to go outside so i can always just put him out there if he is bothering me! anyways! everything else is good! im excited for my mom to be here in just a couple weeks! hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

How your baby's growing at 36 weeks:
Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.
At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.

35 weeks

well not too much new this last week! finally back to the norm of things after our trip! i got all my pictures and home videos edited! thats always so much fun to me! and im just getting the hang of imovie 09 and the features! i love it! and i know the more i do it the better i can get! i wouldnt say that im getting that much bigger, but i can really tell that the baby is getting bigger! kicks are harder, ribs are more sore, harder to sit up out of bed! the list goes on and on! but its all enjoyable! and im getting so excited, but trying to tell myself it could be a couple more months till i have the baby so im not sitting at the clock waiting for the big day! my mom will be here in a few weeks! that seems kinda weird! i know its just right around the corner! i have been having more and more baby dreams! mostly about going into labor and then after the baby is here....the actual delivery never seems to come up, mainly cause i think i have no idea what to expect! but non the less, its nice dreaming about my little one! all the what ifs on who it will look more like and everything! but yea, thats my weekly update! nothing too special! hope you all have a great week!

How your baby's growing at 35 weeks:
Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

How your baby's growing at 34 weeks:
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
